Backcountry Wanderer is a small shop making casual clothes for people who’d rather be outside than anywhere with fluorescent lighting. We’re not here to kit you out for Everest, and we’re not pretending this stuff is “technical.” There’s already plenty of that out there. We make hoodies, tees, and caps for the in-between moments—coffee runs, grocery trips, school pickups—when you’re stuck in civilization but your brain is still somewhere in the pines.
Backcountry Wanderer is small on purpose. It started as a way for me to design and print shirts for myself and friends, and then other people started showing interest in what I was doing. What you see now is just that idea grown up a bit—still personal and still made for people like my backpacking friends.
We print to order with trusted partners instead of stacking boxes in a warehouse, which helps cut down on wasteful overproduction and “just in case” inventory. That means your gear is made for you, not pulled off a shelf. We work hard to only team up with reliable vendors, but we also live in the real world—every now and then, something goes sideways. When it does, you’re not dealing with a ticket system or a mystery inbox. You’re talking directly to me, James, or my wife. We’ll make it right, no drama.
We get it—you’d rather be running through the woods half‑feral. So would we. But every now and then, you’ve got to face the public. When you do, you might as well do it in comfort and style. Hoodies, tees, and caps for when you’re pretending to be civilized.
